Little Book "The Infinite" Edition 1 is a limited-edition, uncut and unfiltered Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, bottled at 119.3 proof (59.65% ABV). This unique expression is a blend of four different bourbons, incorporating spirits distilled by three generations of the Noe family: Booker Noe (6th Gen), Fred Noe (7th Gen), and Freddie Noe (8th Gen).
Blend Components and Concept
The "Infinite" series is designed to be an "infinity" blend, where a portion of each year's release is held back and blended into subsequent editions, creating an evolving flavor profile over time. Edition 1 includes four distinct components:
- 20-year-old bourbon: Distilled by Booker Noe, providing notes of oak, char, and smoke.
- 14-year-old bourbon: Distilled by Fred Noe, bringing flavors of dark fruit, cherry, and brown sweets.
- 7-year-old bourbon: Distilled by Freddie Noe, highlighting notes of caramel, vanilla, and baking spice. This component features an extended, five-day fermentation process, which contributes an apple note to the profile.
- 8-year-old "shared family component" bourbon: This part of the blend utilizes a unique mash bill that includes brown rice.
Tasting Notes
Despite its high proof, "The Infinite" is noted for being well-balanced and surprisingly smooth, with a full-bodied mouthfeel.
- Nose: The aroma is complex, featuring prominent notes of dark caramel, fig, and toffee, with a notable presence of aged oak, peanut butter, and hints of raspberry or stone fruit.
- Palate: The taste is described as bold and rich, delivering layers of dark caramelized sugar, creme caramel, and dark chocolate, balanced by flavors of cinnamon, baking spices, and a touch of sweet cherry. The signature "Beam nuttiness" is present but often fades into the background as a canvas for the other flavors.
- Finish: The finish is long and satisfying, with lingering notes of sweet oak, allspice, and a touch of black pepper or char. The warmth from the high proof is pleasant and not overwhelming.
